08 May Headlamp Restoration
Acrylic headlights oxidize when exposed to UV light and over time can yellow and diminish visibility. The lenses are made with a clear topcoat layer to help prevent this, but eventually, the coating wears off, and sunlight turns the hard plastic yellow, reducing the over effectiveness of the lights. Water droplets can also scatter the beam of light, further impairing nighttime visibility.
At Dents By Hand, we have restored a number of these neglected headlamps and brought them back to life. We first start with an oxidation removal compound using a high-speed buffer, followed by a fine polish and UV-activated Clear Coat. This process restores the appearance and safety of your headlamps to a like-new condition.
